We recently completed a signage project for the Mike Kelly Automotive Group in Butler. The company is opening a new building dedicated to pre-owned car sales and needed a feature lighted sign to display on the building, as well as rehabilitation of a pylon sign next to the road near the front of the building.
The photos below show the completed LED-illuminated channel letter sign as well as the lighted pylon road sign. The unique shape of the channel letter sign is a representation of the Mike Kelly Automotive brand logo. The lighted pylon road sign is a renovated and redesigned cabinet sign that uses its height advantage to capture the attention of busy traffic on Route 8.
The Mike Kelly Automotive Group consists of three brand name dealerships as well as a pre-owned car center. Opening its doors in 1953, the organization has served the Bulter community for over 60 years. As the group continues to expand its size and reach, it prides itself on its customer service and focuses on maintaining a strong connection with the neighborhoods it serves.
Spark Signs & Graphics is no stranger to the Mike Kelly Automotive Group; we have worked on other projects for the company in the past. When we were presented with the opportunity to bring sign ideas to life for their new pre-owned lot, we bid on the project and were awarded the opportunity to create an exterior building illuminated channel letter sign and to retrofit their pylon sign with huge new pan frames.
To ensure efficiency and quality, we worked closely with the construction firm that was updating the building to share sign renderings, material and color samples and adhere to their construction schedule. In the Spark design studio, we enlarged the Mike Kelly logo to meet necessary specifications for both signs, and after the artwork was finalized and approved by our client, we secured sign permits from the local township. We then used several partners to fabricate the signs. For the illuminated channel letters, the Kelly clover leaf and letters were fabricated into aluminum cabinets and had LEDs inserted into them. Acrylic overlays and vinyl graphics for the signature Kelly “green” color were added. And for the Pylon sign, we refurbished the structure by not only scraping and painting the poles but also by removing several unused cabinets. We then shifted the largest cabinet to the top and placed in huge new acrylic pan frames that included the Mike Kelly logo.
The lead project manager from the construction company was pleased with our collaboration on the project. Laura Schwartz of Arris Construction remarked, “Spark Signs & Graphics was great to work with. Very thorough, prompt, and communicated well, every step of the way.” In addition, Mike Lee, the General Manager of the Mike Kelly Automotive Group added, “The Spark team did a great job on putting a proposal together and delivering a fantastic final product!”
