We worked with Chapman Westport, a class-A business park located near the Pittsburgh International Airport, to create new signage for the park. Spark Signs created wayfinding signage to identify and direct traffic to businesses within the park, fabricated a channel letter sign for their entrance and directional signage for the main intersection.
The photos throughout the article show the multiple directional and wayfinding signs posted throughout the park, and the raceway channel letter sign branded with the Chapman Westport name and logo mounted on the curved stone wall at the entrance to the industrial park. To see photos of the entire project, check out the Chapman Westport Project album on our Flickr page.
Chapman Westport Properties is focused on the development, ownership, and hands-on management of industrial real estate. Through build-to-suit office and industrial real estate projects, redevelopments, and master planned business parks, their team works collaboratively with customers to provide solutions that fully address their specific needs.
Chapman Westport wanted to ensure smooth navigation around their park, so we shared multiple sign options and designs with our client. For the wayfinding signs, we recommended a sign system that was flexible enough to add and remove names, and one that was built with a durable aluminum material that would last and endure the weather elements. Near the entrance of each tenant building, a modular system of 6’X8’ all-aluminum post and panel signs highlighted site identification. This particular system includes panels that are stacked and can be easily removed and replaced when needed. As individuals approach the auto entrance to a building, a 5’X4’ post and panel sign is placed at the turn. Each sign is marked with a high-performance vinyl and the Chapman Westport logo as the header. And in each parking lot, our team installed 4’X3’ post and panel signs that direct traffic to specific suites, either to the right or left.
For the entrance sign channel letters, we recommended a very long lighted raceway sign that took careful engineering to ensure that it was constructed properly to follow the curved ledge on the beautifully built stone wall. The internally (LED) illuminated channel letters were 27” tall and 5” deep with the entire length being 38 feet, while the logo measured 36” x 36”. And we also created an underline bar that was 4” tall and 39 feet long.
Lastly, we recommended a solution to direct traffic at an important intersection within the park. We utilized laser-cut acrylic letters and placed the Chapman Westport name and logo along with the street name on an existing stone wall.
Our client was extremely pleased with the work we put in to simplify the traffic patterns in the business park while keeping the Chapman Westport brand a key focus.
